Fundamental Physics Seminar Series - Replica Wormhole and Black Hole Information Paradox

Abstract
The speaker will review the recent progress of using wormhole geometries to understand Hawking’s black hole information paradox. The basic point is that wormhole predicts exponential small corrections between spatially separated bulk states in the black hole interior as seen from asymptotic observers. This leads to order-one corrected quantum mechanical effects for old evaporating black holes.
About the Speaker
Prof. YANG Zhenbin is an Associate Professor at the Institute for Advanced Study, Tsinghua University. Prof. Yang obtained his PhD degree from Princeton University in 2019, and was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Stanford University from 2019-2023 before joining Tsinghua University. Prof. Yang received the 2025 Frontiers of Science Award from the International Congress of Basic Science and the 2023 NSFC Excellent Young Scholars. His current research interests include quantum aspects of black holes and de Sitter horizon.
