The HKUST Musical tradition goes way back with a joyful collective memory, for which there is always a special place in the hearts of many music and drama enthusiasts in the University Community. It brings together extraordinary talents to create an exceptional Broadway musical experience. From our first production in 2009, "The Wedding Singer" (Hong Kong premiere), to recent hits like “Wonderful Town” and “Singin' in the Rain”, musicals have taken audiences on unforgettable journeys.  Exploring the crazy world of business in “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” and traveling back in time to the '50s with “Grease”, each show has left us laughing, singing, and dancing in delight.

This year, we are excited to re-launch the University Musical series with a renewed focus on engaging the broader community.  With the unveiling of the state-of-the-art Shaw Auditorium, we are thrilled to announce our first-ever production of the HKUST Community Musical – Meredith WILLSON's The Music Man, to be performed at the Shaw Auditorium on March 23-24, 2024, promising an even more captivating experience for all. 

Under the direction and choreography of veteran musical director and instructor Mandy PETTY, and with faculty member in the Division of Humanities and operatic bass-baritone Isaac DROSCHA serving as the music director and production manager, this production features an exceptional cast of performers comprising HKUST students, staff, alumni, and members of the wider community. Their involvement has played a pivotal role in the resounding success of the production, and their participation is eagerly awaited.

香港科技大學音樂劇自誕生以來，憑藉著歡樂的氛圍和出色的製作讓觀眾記憶猶新，並在科大音樂及戲劇愛好者的心中佔一席位。從2009年的第一部作品《The Wedding Singer》（香港首演），直至近年的《Wonderful Town》以及《Singin' in the Rain》，科大音樂劇匯聚學生、教職員和校友的才華於一堂，將百老匯的魔力帶到校園當中：我們一起在《How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying》中探索了瘋狂且殘酷的商業世界，亦曾經回到五十年代與《Grease》一同搖滾，每場演出都為觀眾帶來愉悅的體驗，讓觀眾親歷其境。

今年，我們很高興跟科大成員及更多友好攜手合作，再度呈獻大型製作——科大音樂劇2024，演出由美國著名作曲家暨劇作家 Meredith WILLSON 創作的經典音樂劇《 The Music Man 》。演出將於2024年3月23及24日於逸夫演藝中心上演，為觀眾帶來與別不同的音樂劇體驗。

是次音樂劇由資深音樂劇導演及導師敏迪貝蒂 ( Mandy PETTY ) 執導及編舞，並由人文學部教學人員及男低中音歌劇歌唱家艾樂冊 ( Isaac DROSCHA ) 擔任音樂總監及製作經理。演出團隊由香港科技大學的學生、教職員、校友及其他社區人士組成。他們精彩的表現叫人熱切期待！

• Early Bird Discount 早鳥優惠:
  Buying tickets on or before February 9, 2024, can enjoy 10% off with a limited quota. 
  在2024年2月9日或之前購買正價門票可享九折優惠，數量有限，售完即止。

• Concession Tickets 門票優惠：
  20% off discount is available for full-time students, senior citizens aged 60 and above, people with disabilities and the minder, Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients with a limited quota.

  Ticket holders will automatically become Friends of HKUST. As a member, you will receive event news and invitations to arts and cultural programs to be held at Shaw Auditorium.

REMARKS 備註

• After deduction of ticketing expenses, the proceeds will be used to support events and activities organized by HKUST students.

          門票收益扣除票務開支後，將用於香港科技大學學生舉辦活動。

• The performance will run for approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes including an intermission.
  演出全長約2小時30分鐘，設中場休息。

• Performed in English with Chinese and English surtitles.
  英語演出，附中英文字幕。

• Children under 6 will not be admitted.
  六歲以下小童恕不招待。

• Audience is recommended to arrive 15 minutes before the performance starts. Latecomers will only be admitted at a suitable break.
  建議觀眾在演出前15分鐘到達表演場地，遲到或中途離場觀眾須待適當時候方可進場。

• The organizer reserves the right to make changes to the program, performers and seating arrangement. In case of dispute, the decision of the organizer shall be final.
