Hardware side-channel attacks are becoming a major focus for modern computer systems due to the unexpected interactions of these highly complex systems. Left unstudied, these issues have far-reaching, harmful effects on the security of computer systems. Thus, to protect systems from side-channels, we design and construct systems to explore and mitigate side-channel threats. In this talk, I will present novel and practical side-channels we disclosed on modern Intel and Arm processors and introduce our innovative side-channel-resilient trusted systems.

Speakers / Performers:
Dr. Yun Chen
the National University of Singapore

Yun Chen is a final-year Ph.D. candidate advised by Prof. Trevor E. Carlson in the School of Computing at the National University of Singapore. His research focuses on hardware and system security, particularly developing microarchitectural side-channel exploration frameworks and designing side-channel-resilient systems for enhanced protection. His research has been accepted at many top-tier and important conferences in computer architecture, including ASPLOS, HPCA, and DATE.
