Edge computing and industrial IoT are interdependent. With the development of IoT technology, the amount of data generated by industrial equipment increases dramatically. Edge computing has been proven to provide a more efficient data processing and storage method for the industrial IoT, mitigating the network's bandwidth requirements for effective data, reducing the transmission costs and delays, and avoiding security risks. Enhancing the computational intelligence on and among the edge devices is critical to the success of edge computing. This talk will share some recent actual deployment experience in the oil fields, electric power, and wind photovoltaics, including our scientific research progress and related products in IoT and wireless networking. Additionally, this talk will hopefully inspire us to embark on joint quests, addressing pressing challenges and unlocking new possibilities.
Dr. Qiang Ma is currently an assistant researcher at the Software School in Tsinghua University. He received his Ph.D from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2014, and a BEng from Tsinghua University. His research interests include Internet of Things, Wireless Networking, and AI enabled Edge/Mobile Computing. He has published more than fifty articles in peer reviewed journals and conferences. The company he co-founded is dedicated to sensor network, private/converged network communication system, and its products serve various industrial users, including oil fields, electric power and green energy. Based on the works in academia research, teaching and product promotion, he won the First Prize of Technical Invention award of Education Ministry in 2022.
