Tree Transplantation Activity

02:30pm - 05:30pm
RB2 Site (the carpark adjacent to the Conference Lodge) and Chinese Garden (near Senior Staff Quarter 15 – 19)

Dear colleagues and students,

Join the HKUST tree transplanting activity and claim your staff volunteering leave or HMWA 1905 hours!

We are excited to invite you to participate in a meaningful activity that will preserve our natural environment. As part of the Research Building 2 (RB2) construction project, we have discovered a woodland area with numerous saplings. Instead of clearing them and sending them to the landfill, we have devised a plan to transplant the saplings back to various locations within HKUST.

During the event, you will help to transplant approximately 20 saplings from the RB2 site to Chinese Garden. Your names will also be marked at the Chinese Garden planting site as well! Serving as a lasting testament to your commitment to environmental conservation.

This is an exceptionally rare opportunity to transplant saplings within our own campus, so be sure to sign up as soon as possible to secure your place!

Event Details:

Date: 3rd November

Time: 2:30pm - 5:30pm

Location: RB2 Site (the carpark adjacent to the Conference Lodge) and Chinese Garden (near Senior Staff Quarter 15 – 19)

Registration: Click Here or scanning the QR code on the poster

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the creation of a patch of forest with native trees and high ecological value, using the Miyawaki method which accelerates the growth of trees by ten times compared to traditional methods. Additionally, some saplings will be planted near the BBQ site in the Chinese Garden, providing much-needed shade for users.

Rest assured, all necessary tools and equipment will be provided. We kindly advise you to dress appropriately for the occasion and ensure you have sufficient mosquito and sun protection.

This is a HMAW1905-recognized event in the “Personal Enrichment & Community Service” category under the "Self-directed Experience" of HMAW1905: Behavioral
Foundations of University Education: Habits, Mindsets, and Wellness. To receive 3 hours, you must attend the event in full and miss no more than 10 mins.

To confirm your participation, please RSVP by 2nd November.

Best regards,
