Staff Volunteering Opportunity - Open Lab: A Sustainable Textile Initiative
We are excited to share an upcoming staff volunteering opportunity for The Hong Kong Research Institute of Textiles and Apparel (HKRITA), which aims to drive the sustainable development of the textile and fashion industry. We have the chance to be a part of this movement by volunteering at Open Lab, HKRITA’s newest 20,000-square-foot R&D facility.
Your participation will involve supporting garment recycling efforts by assisting with fabric cutting and trimming recycled uniforms. This hands-on experience will contribute to preparing fabrics for recycling through the Green Machine, specifically targeting PET-cotton blended post-consumer textile fibers. In addition to the volunteering activity, you will also have the chance to tour the Open Lab, where you will gain insights into the Hong Kong textile industry's inner workings, from garment pre-production to post-production processing of the materials you helped prepared.
