The launch session of the HKUST 2050 Net-Zero Carbon Workshop Series will be held on March 30th from 9:00am to 11:00am. This is a very important new initiative that will shape our campus for years to come, and will be a chance to develop new project ideas and cross-disciplinary research pathways that will be prioritised for internal funding and staffing support.

The plenary session for HKUST staff and faculty will include background briefings from key industry and policy experts and discussion, and move into discussion sessions where we can work together to identify areas of opportunity.

Speakers include:

Prof Wei Shyy, HKUST President

Ms Sharmini Chetwode, Goldman Sachs

Prof Shao Minhua, Professor, Department of Chemical & Biological Engineering, HKUST

At the end of the kick-start workshop, we hope to establish teams to develop large-scale research projects/proposals, leverage SSC as a Living Lab to demonstrate ideas, share the opportunities to implement ideas in Guangzhou campus, and set a roadmap to net zero carbon for both campuses.

Date: 30 March 2021, Tuesday
