Abstract

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is one of the neurodegenerative diseases that affects more than 55 million people worldwide. However, there is still a lack of effective and safe therapies for it. This suggests an urgent need for innovative therapeutic strategies.

Target protein degradation (TPD), which utilizes cellular degradation mechanisms, including the Ubiquitin-Proteasome System and lysosomal pathways, is considered a promising drug-design strategy. It enables the selective elimination of the disease-causing protein of interest (POI), thereby achieving a cure for the disease. This approach offers the potential to advancing the cure for neurodegeneration.

Researchers have been working on the development of TPD modalities to target AD-related proteins. In this talk, the relevant background on this field will be introduced. Furthermore, some newly developed targeted protein degraders for AD therapy will also be discussed.
