With its unique and exclusive linear and nonlinear optical characteristics, epsilon-near-zero (ENZ) photonics has drawn a tremendous amount of attention in the recent decade in the fields of nanophotonics, nonlinear optics, plasmonics, light-matter interactions, material science, applied optical science, etc. The extraordinary optical properties, relatively high tuning flexibility, and CMOS compatibility of ENZ materials make them popular and competitive candidates for nanophotonic devices and on-chip integration in all-optical and electro-optical platforms. With exclusive features and high performance, ENZ photonics can play a big role in versatile applications and multidisciplinary research in the realm of optical communications, optical data processing, high sensitivity sensing, optical computations, optical neural networks, etc.

講者/ 表演者:
Dr. WU Jiaye
EPFL, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne

Jiaye Wu is currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at Photonic Systems Laboratory, École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne). His expertise and current research interests span ultrafast light-matter-interactions, nonlinear nanophotonics in epsilon-near-zero materials, fibre optics, waveguide networks, functional thin film design, and non-Hermitian optics. He received Ph.D. degree in Photonics from EPFL in 2025 with early graduation honour; M.Sc. degree in Microelectronics and Solid-State Electronics (Integrated Photonic Devices) from Peking University in 2021 with the highest honours, and B.Sc. degree in Opto-Electronics Information Science and Engineering (Xiangqin Optoelectronic Creative Class) from South China Normal University in 2018 with distinction. His prolific publications include 45+ academic papers, including 17 as the first/corresponding author in prestigious journals such as Nature Communications, Laser & Photonics Reviews, ACS Photonics, etc. He served as a peer-reviewer for 20+ academic journals. He is an active member of Elsevier Advisory Panel, OPTICA and IEEE Photonics Society. He was as a key member in Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and Innosuisse projects. He was the founding president of IEEE Photonics Society Peking University (Shenzhen Campus) branch chapter and the president of OSA Peking University (Shenzhen Campus) chapter.
