HKUST Impact Makers - Buddy Reading Volunteer Program Training Session

Do you have a passion for working with children or have kids of your own?
We invite you to join the HKUST Impact Makers’ Buddy Reading Volunteer Program in the Spring Semester of 2026, held in collaboration with Kids4Kids. This organization is dedicated to empowering young people from all backgrounds to make positive contributions to their communities. By participating, you'll support students at an under-resourced primary school and help foster their social-emotional learning through a love of reading!
As a volunteer, you will receive training and work alongside a team to deliver engaging buddy reading sessions, which will include games, reading activities, and story extension exercises.
Eligibility: HKUST Staff
Mandatory Training Session
Date: 20 January 2026 (Tuesday)
Time: 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm
Location: HKUST Campus
* All volunteers must attend this training session to participate in the program
Volunteering Sessions Details
* Volunteers are required to sign up and attend a minimum of two sessions to participate
Dates:
10 February 2026 (Tuesday)
17 March 2026 (Tuesday)
14 April 2026 (Tuesday)
5 May 2026 (Tuesday)
Time: 2:15 pm – 4:30 pm
Location: A primary school in Shek Kip Mei
Remarks:
- Bus transportation from HKUST will be provided for each volunteering session, and volunteers will be dismissed at Shek Kip Mei after the activity.
- HKUST staff can take special leave to join this volunteering activity. Please note that prior approval should be obtained from your supervisor and Head of Department for your special leave application.
