Thesis/paper competition has become popular nowadays with attractive awards and rewards. Most people like to win; however, the number of awards is limited. Combining with the modern AI-assist tools, it could be also helpful for students through the case study of real examples to trigger or inspire their own ideas to prepare a great thesis/research work for doing good research together with winning the awards. In this talk, three real examples of winning the first prise of one-million (new Taiwan) dollar award in each competition will be mentioned and discussed. The examples include (a) the Tai-Chi coating technology in display manufacturing technology, (b) the chamber design and flow mechanism of valveless micropumps and (c) the development of a novel slot die coater manufacturing technology in multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC). Their common features will be analysed and summarized as the possible underlying logic and the strategy of the winning thesis/paper. Although the visible award is limited, “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll fall among the stars.”
