IoT Thrust Seminar | Moonbit For Cloud And Edge Using Wasm

2:00pm - 3:00pm
Zoom ID: 885 3183 3025 Passcode: iott Offline venue: E4 – 101

WebAssembly (Wasm), a versatile Instruction Set Architecture (ISA), is gaining prominence in Cloud and Edge computing due to its efficiency, security, compactness, and open standards. However, its true potential remains untapped. Moonbit, led by Hongbo Zhang and a seasoned team, seeks to be the Wasm-first language that resolves these challenges. It offers rapid development, compact Wasm output, and a user-friendly experience. Moonbit blends the simplicity of Golang with Rust's expressiveness, incorporating powerful features such as pattern matching, type inference, and more. With its fault-tolerant type system designed for speed and incremental checking, Moonbit is poised to unlock Wasm's promises for Cloud and Edge computing.

In this talk, Moonbit's presentation will commence with an introduction to its background and application scenarios, emphasizing its specific applications and advantages in the Internet of Things (IoT) domain. Subsequently, a detailed showcase of Moonbit's specific features and strengths will be provided. The presentation will conclude with a live demonstration to illustrate Moonbit's capabilities at the end of the talk.
