Exploring Some Difficult Problems In Financial Engineering

Abstract:

The complexity of modern financial markets presents significant challenges across various domains, including derivative pricing, investment strategies, portfolio selection, interest rate modelling, and risk management. In this talk, we will explore several important problems in these areas, focusing on their underlying causes, the specific difficulties they pose, and the methodologies employed to address them. By examining the key drivers of complexity, we aim to demonstrate that, despite the seemingly complex nature of these challenges, a systematic understanding of their root causes enables the development of effective solutions. This discussion will highlight how to understand and overcome the difficulties encountered.
