The 12th Hong Kong University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition

Hong Kong New Generation Cultural Association is the main organizer of the regional competitions of two most prominent and widely recognized national innovation and entrepreneurship competitions for tertiary students, including, (1) the China College Students’ “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition organized by the Ministry of Education; and (2) the “Challenge Cup” National College Students’ Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest organized by the Committee of the Communist Youth League of China.

Every year, the most outstanding projects are selected to represent Hong Kong in the aforementioned national stages, exposing talented Hong Kong students to cutting-edge innovative and entrepreneurship ideas and inspiring them with academic exchange among the brightest students nationwide. Through this eye-opening, first-hand experience, it is hoped that students could further develop their potential, sharpen their presentation and interpersonal skills and become future innovation and entrepreneurship leaders.

The winning entrepreneurship projects will form as a Hong Kong  representative team to participate the China International College Students' Innovation Competition and/or the “Challenge Cup” China College Students Entrepreneurship Competition, which are known as "The Best and Biggest Roadshow Platform Worldwide" and “The Biggest Platform of Chinese Young Entrepreneurs” respectively while the winning innovation projects will enter the “Challenge Cup” National College Students’ Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest which is recognized as the "China Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Olympic". Since 2025, award-winning projects have had the opportunity to represent Hong Kong in three international exhibitions and competitions: Worldlnvent Singapore (WoSG), Indonesia Inventors Day (IID) and Seoul International Invention Fair (SIIF).

Eligibility

Hong Kong’s Full time higher diploma, associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree students. (On-job postgraduates exclusive )

(Graduated ≤ 5 years are welcome for “Startup” and “Social Enterprise/Cultural & Creative Services” categories)

Awards

1.          Awards：Grand Prize, First Prize, Second Prize, Third Prize

2.          Outstanding Institution Award (to be awarded to the institution which had submitted the highest number of outstanding projects)

3.          Total cash prize value is over HKD$500,000.

4.          Resource connections, public exhibitions, media coverage, etc.

5.          Top winners will represent HKSAR and their colleges in the above mentioned National and International Competition(s)
