Call for Proposals – Croucher Innovation Awards 2022

The Awards aim to identify a small number of exceptionally talented scientists from all countries working at an internationally competitive level and to offer substantial support to these “rising stars” at a formative stage in their careers.

The Awards enable recipients to pursue their own scientific, intellectual and professional inclinations, to advance their expertise, to engage in bold new work, and to contribute to the development of education and research in Hong Kong.  These awards may offer funding of up to HK$5 million each for research expenses to be used over 5 years. Each institution is allowed to submit 3 applications in each academic year.

Eligibility:

• New faculty members who completed their doctorates with distinctions less than 6 years, and must have secured a tenure-track faculty position but should not have been in a tenure-track position for more than two years;
• Have evidence of achievement as an independent researcher in his/her chosen area;
• Have been lead investigator on at least one significant research grant from a major funding body, or have been the recipient of an independent research fellowship before taking up his/her current post;
• Have begun to establish a training record and to coach or mentor less experienced researchers.

Application procedures:

• Interested applicants please submit a preliminary application with recommendations of the Department Head and School Dean to Research Office via email by internal deadline. 
• If applications are more than the set quota, internal selection will be conducted and shortlisted applicants will be notified  to submit full proposals online to Sponsor in July 2021.
