The era of big data we are marching into has strong spatial and temporal characteristics, and at least 80% of the information we generate and use in our daily life is related to time and space. The social governance and public management in the era of big data require accurate "time" and "space" information. The geospatial technologies and geographic information can effectively assist us to discover the spatial social laws and reasons for changes hidden in the massive amount of spatial temporal data.

With the rapid development of geospatial technologies and the emergence of new data sources (urban spatial big data, mobile phone big data, satellite remote sensing earth observation imagery, …), spatially refined social governance is moving to a new stage of micro-scale modeling and analysis, virtual simulation and early prediction. Making full use of satellite remote sensing data and multi-source urban spatial data can effectively assist decision makers to explore the interaction law between various behavioral activities, socio-economic and built environmental indicators in urban space through GIS spatio-temporal analysis.

Through a series of cases such as urban crime, subjective well-being, economic development, location service, the surface monitoring, urban infrastructure management, and several others, this speech will be demonstrating the application of satellite remote sensing, navigation and positioning technology, GIS, and geographic artificial intelligence in the daily management of government departments and urban space governance.
