RAE Consultant’s Talk on Research Impact
This talk will cover (a) the sector-wide performance of the eight UGC-funded universities on research impact in the Research Assessment Exercise (RAE) 2020 and (b) how research impact case could be improved.
Professor Gummett was Chief Executive of the Higher Education Council for Wales from 2004-2012. Before that, he was pro-vice chancellor, and Professor of Government and Technology Policy, at the University of Manchester, UK.
He is now a higher education consultant. As well as his engagement with the Hong Kong RAE, other recent and current assignments include Trustee of JISC (the body that provides digital infrastructure and support to all United Kingdom higher and further education), adviser to the Irish Government and its Higher Education Authority on strategy, funding and restructuring within Irish higher education, and Governor of the University of South Wales.
The talk will be conducted in Zoom setting. However, all University participants are invited to join the talk at Chiang Chen Lecture Theater (LT-J) to facilitate the organization of the talk.
