Photonic Switching Network and Enabling Technologies

Photonic switching and high-speed system construct the most important elements of today’s broadband optical communication network. This talk will mainly address photonic switching technologies including wavelength switching (ROADM/WSS) and sub-wavelength switching (burst switching and ultra-dense wavelength switching). High-speed system and optical monitoring are essential for photonic network and will also be discussed. In addition, the related photonic technologies are also applicable in areas of 5G/6G network, data and computing network, and advanced display.

Ning Deng received the B.Eng. degree from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2002 and the Ph.D. degree from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) in 2007. He is currently a Technology Expert in Huawei. His research interests include photonic switching network, high-speed optical system, 5G/6G oriented optical networks, etc. He has more than 55 patents granted or pending, and has published about 60 papers in referred conferences and journals. He is the Editor of multiple ITU-T and CCSA standards.
