Marking a key step in your university-planning journey, “Unboxing HKUST Admissions” is a must-attend event for students and parents preparing for the years ahead. This year, HKUST will visit Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, bringing a series of talks and consultation sessions closer to you. The event is specially designed for 2026 and 2027 JUPAS applicants and students with international qualifications, offering deeper insights into HKUST’s diverse academic pathways and learning opportunities.
Featuring a new thematic approach, this year’s program offers targeted talks designed to address key concerns of students and parents across different areas of interest. The HK Island session focuses on HKUST’s graduate employability and industry prospects; the Kowloon session covers cross‑disciplinary education. These sessions aim to provide vital insights to support informed academic planning and future pathway decisions.

Thematic Talks

The two talks cover relevant, popular themes for students and parents with different interests and aspirations, helping them progress confidently in their academics.
The first offers an analysis of industry talent demand, essential skills, HKUST graduates’ career prospects, and preparation strategies. The second highlights how HKUST’s interdisciplinary and innovative curricula nurture globally competitive talent with international perspectives, helping students stand out on the global stage.
These talks link senior secondary education, university learning, and career development, encouraging parents and students to think beyond admissions and focus on long‑term planning and well‑informed academic decisions.
Pre-U Taster Workshops

HKUST launched the Pre-University Program in 2025 to help students plan their future at an earlier stage. The program offers credit‑bearing courses, cross‑disciplinary projects, and overseas learning that broaden academic horizons and provide high school students with early exposure to university.
Participating students can join free taster classes to experience first‑hand the international and forward‑thinking Pre‑University courses, laying a strong foundation for their future academic and career success.
The first Pre‑U Taster Workshop focuses on Managing Risk in Business and Daily Life, while the second focuses on Designing AI Workflows for Smart Learning.
Registration is required. Limited spots are limited. Students in Form 3-4 or equivalent levels will be prioritized.
In-Depth Understanding of HKUST
- Professors and Admissions Officers from five Schools (School of Science, School of Engineering, School of Business and Management, School of Humanities and Social Science, and Academy of Interdisciplinary Studies) will introduce their disciplines, popular courses, and learning opportunities, giving you firsthand insight into the HKUST experience.
Admissions Talk
(JUPAS and International Qualifications)
- JUPAS choice ranking strategies, HKDSE elective subject requirements, and an explanation of the bonus score for the best 6th subject.
- International Qualifications: Explanation and guidance on HKUST admissions requirements, application procedures, and document preparation.
- The JUPAS talk will be conducted in Cantonese, and the international qualifications talk will be in English.
Personalized Consultation
- Admissions representatives will be on-site to answer your questions and help you formulate the best university plan.
- Engage with professors and Student Ambassadors from different schools to learn about programs and HKUST's diverse earning opportunities, including internships and overseas exchanges, and gain insights into HKUST students' career prospects across diverse industries.
All students, parents, and teachers are welcome to join.

Except for the Pre‑U Taster Workshops and the International Qualifications Admissions Talk, which will be conducted in English, all other sessions will be mainly conducted in Cantonese.
