Spin waves are the collective excitation phenomena of magnetic moments in magnetically ordered materials. The use of spin waves and their quantized particles - magnetons for data transmission and processing takes the advantages of low heat dissipations and high efficiencies. In recent years, related research has gradually become a hot topic. Among various magnetic materials, yttrium iron garnet (Y3Fe5O12: YIG) supports a long distance spin wave propagation. Therefore it is widely used for the study of the propagation characteristics of spin waves. It also has a lower saturation magnetization, so its internal effective field is easy to be modified by the external magnetic field. This report introduces the propagating characteristics of spin waves in YIG microstripe waveguides. The proximate permalloy (Ni81Fe19: Py) magnetic microstructures are used to manipulate the propagating characteristics. It includes: 1. Edge mode spin waves in YIG microstripes tuned by the proximate Py microstripes[1]; 2. Controlled interconversion of quantized even and odd modes via local magnetic fields induced by Py dots[2]; 3. Reconfigured spin wave waveguides by the proximate Py microstrip. According to the studied theories, we preliminarily designed and realized the frequency division multiplexer functions[3].

Zhizhi Zhang has received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the School of Optical and Electronic Information, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China in 2013 and 2020, respectively. During 2017 to 2019, he has studied in the magnetic film group, Argonne National Laboratory, USA as a joint student. He is now working as a postdoctoral researcher in School of Electronic Science and Engineering, University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. Currently, he is working on the propagating characteristics and manipulations of the spin waves in the planar micro-magnetic structures. He has published 18 journal papers, including Phys. Rev. B, Phys. Rev. Lett. and Appl. Phys. Lett. top-ranked journals.
