Every day, 194 metric tons of clothing are sent to landfills in Hong Kong. This not only is a huge waste of materials, resources, and energy, but also takes a staggering toll on our environment.

As a HKUST Impact Maker, you can be part of the solution.

👕 Volunteer to Sort Secondhand Clothes for Reuse and Recycling with Redress

Join environmental charity Redress in their mission to reduce fashion’s negative environmental impact! Their Takeback Program collects unwanted clothing from the public and relies on volunteers to sort the clothes for reuse, resale, or recycling/downcycling.

Most of the sorted clothing are donated to 20+ local charities, while others are resold to fund Redress’ impactful work. Unusable items are responsibly recycled or downcycled to avoid landfill.
